Save the date!
Society for Photographic Education’s 2013 NW Regional Conference will be held in Seattle at the Art Institute of Seattle and Photo Center NW November 7-10, 2013. The theme is centered on ‘community; connecting through photography’, and will encompass conversation on photography’s impact on educational, professional, artistic, social, and familial circles. The theme is intended to provide an opportunity to look at how photography documents and defines community, as well as highlight the vast and nuanced photographic community within our region.
Call for proposals on community; connecting through photography
Photographers, curators, educators and students are encouraged to submit proposals regarding the conference theme or outside of the conference theme. We welcome proposals or imagemaker presentations centered on current work or research. Traditional formats regarding presentations, lectures, discussions and panels will be considered, as well as unconventional ideas and proposals. Want to show imagery? Discuss ideas? Sessions will range from 1 to 2 hours, unless otherwise requested by presenters. Lead a photographic field trip using camera phones and social media? Let’s do it! Curatorial proposals are also encouraged. Proposals will be considered from anyone, regardless of region or membership status. Proposals will be due July 15th.
Please include the attached form, a 250 word abstract, a 150 word proposal, a 1 page CV for each proposed speaker/panelist and 10 images in a single PDF document under 5 Mb. Also include facility requirements, materials cost per participant if any. Send proposal PDF documents to spenw2013@gmail.com by July 15th, 2013.
Student registrants
Students not only take advantage of reduced conference rates, but are invited to submit 1 image for the student slideshow which will run the duration of the conference. More information to come.
